iPhone / iPad	Open the GIF Pin in the Pinterest app. On the Pin screen, tap "Share" and choose "Copy link". If your version of Pinterest also shows "Copy link" in the "..." menu, you can use that instead. Then open pinpea.com in Safari, paste the link into the input box above, and wait for the preview window to appear. Then tap "Download".	Safari usually saves the downloaded GIF in Apple's "Files" app first. It will normally be inside the "Downloads" folder. If you want the GIF in the Photos app, open it in "Files", tap "Share", then choose "Save Image", and it will show up in your Photos app.	Open Apple's "Files" app and tap "Browse" at the bottom. Check "iCloud Drive" > "Downloads" first, then "On My iPhone" > "Downloads" if the GIF isn't there. If you already used "Save Image", open the "Photos" app and check your recent photos instead.
PC: Windows / Mac	Open the GIF Pin in your browser and copy the full Pinterest URL from the address bar at the top. Go to Pinpea.com, paste the URL into the download box, and wait a few seconds for the preview. Then click "Download".	On Windows, the GIF normally goes to your "Downloads" folder. On Mac, it usually goes to "Finder" > "Downloads", unless you've changed your browser's download location. Either way, the quickest way to find it is your browser's download list, usually the arrow icon in the toolbar.	On Windows, open File Explorer > Downloads. On Mac, open Finder > Downloads. If you still don't see the GIF, open your browser's download list and use "Show in folder" on Windows or "Show in Finder" on Mac to jump straight to the file.

Pinterest still has real .gif files, so it's not true that every looping Pin is just an MP4 in disguise. You can still find GIF files served directly from Pinterest's own i.pinimg.com CDN, like this one: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/09/89/26/098926961835100a5d87a1e65cae87b9.gif. So when a public Pin has a real GIF source, Pinpea simply finds that file on Pinterest and lets you download the .gif directly. There's no need to convert an MP4 back into a GIF first. Of course, some animated Pins really are videos. Pinpea just gives you what Pinterest actually provides for that Pin: if there's a GIF source, you get the GIF; if Pinterest only provides an MP4, you get the MP4. We don't convert Pinterest video to GIF. If you specifically want to turn a video into a GIF, you'll need to use a separate GIF converter.

Downloaded GIFs keep the original quality

What you download from Pinpea is the GIF file Pinterest actually provides, so it keeps the original dimensions, image quality, and animation. Pinterest recommends 1000 × 1500 px (2:3) for standard Pins, but GIFs you find on Pinterest can come in all kinds of sizes and resolutions. We don't upscale a small GIF or label it as HD or 4K when it isn't. A lot of the funniest reaction GIFs are pretty low quality anyway, simply because they've been shared and re-shared across the internet for years. And sometimes that rough, slightly blurry look actually makes the meme even funnier, doesn't it?

Reasons GIF files are usually larger than MP4 files

GIF files are usually larger than MP4 because GIF stores animation frame by frame, while MP4 uses video compression that handles motion much more efficiently. The difference can be dramatic: in one Cloudinary test, a 6.3 MB GIF was only 311 KB as an MP4. File size still varies with resolution, frame count, and how much changes between frames. Pinpea doesn't show the size before download yet, but it does label the file as GIF, so you know you're downloading a real GIF rather than a still image or MP4. After saving it, you can check the exact size in your device's file info.

GIF frame rate, playback speed, and looping

Pinterest GIFs don't always have a fixed frame rate like 30 or 60 FPS. What really controls the speed is how long each frame stays on screen: 100 ms per frame works out to about 10 FPS, 50 ms to about 20 FPS, and 40 ms to about 25 FPS. When Pinterest provides a real GIF, Pinpea downloads that file as it is, without changing the frame timing or loop settings, so it should play at the same speed and loop the same way after download.

Pinterest GIF downloads fail: common reasons and how to fix them

You pasted link is private or unavailable

Pinpea can only download animated GIFs from public Pins. Links to the Pinterest home page, search results, secret boards, or other pages that don't point to a public Pin won't work. You need to paste a valid Pin URL, such as https://pin.it/... or https://www.pinterest.com/pin/.... If the Pin is on a secret board and you're comfortable making it public temporarily, you can switch the board to public, download the GIF, and then make it secret again.

This animated Pin is actually a video

If the download comes back as an MP4, the Pin is probably a video rather than a real GIF. Some looping Pins on Pinterest look like GIFs, but Pinterest actually serves them as MP4 files. This isn't a download error. Pinpea is not a Pinterest video to GIF converter — it gives you the file Pinterest actually provides instead of turning an MP4 into a GIF. If you still want a GIF, you'll need a separate video-to-GIF converter.

Your GIF viewer may not support autoplay

First, check that the file you downloaded is actually a .gif, then try opening it in a browser or an image viewer that supports animated GIFs. Some apps only show the first frame, while others may recompress or convert the file after upload, so a GIF that looks still isn't necessarily a static image. A simple way to check is to send or upload it to a social media platform like WhatsApp and see whether it loops there.

Pinpea may be temporarily unable to handle the link

If the Pin opens normally on Pinterest, is public, and the link is correct but Pinpea still returns no result, the issue may be on our side.
